Ski Blitz- Sea Level to 13,000
Posted by e1granville on March 19, 2010
So for not posting I decided to go on a financially irresponsible ski trip to Colorado. Whats that sitting on the couch at sea level is not good conditioning… I beg to differ, I used to rip at skiing and I bowl at least twice a month now in Texas how could I not be in shape.
Well apparently I wasn’t in Silverton Colorado shape. Silverton Colorado, what can I say. First of all the town is awesome. You want a throwback? This mining town is still sporting dirt roads. Elevation 9,000 feet. And the Ski resort. Really not a resort. Only one lift open only Thurs thru Sun and about only 200 people go a day. Where can you ski where ever you can hike to. Safety considerations are bring an avalanche beacon, probe, shovel and some friends that know how to use them.
Forget about the 9 dollar glasses of wine at the bottom of Aspen in the lodge with Buffy, this place is one tent with a wood stove and PBR on tap. Silverton gets an A++. No need to retake the class. Highly recommend for those looking for the best ski serious ski experience in the lower 48. P-out. -E-
